Biography |
Katrina is a PhD student who joined the Bimczok lab as an undergraduate in 2018. Her undergraduate research, funded by INBRE and the Irv Weissman Endowment, evaluated the therapeutic effects of black raspberries against stomach cancer using an organoid model of Helicobacter pylori infection. These two years of research yielded several poster presentations, a public "mini stomach" exhibit, and a talk at Bozeman's Museum of the Rockies. Katrina received MSU's Presidential Emerging Scholars award in January 2020, and had abstracts accepted to Digestive Disease Week as well as NCUR, both of which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She began her graduate research as a Master's student in Fall 2020, and has since transitioned to the doctoral program.
Outside of the lab, Katrina enjoys hiking, weightlifting, playing the cello, reading, and participating in science outreach. |
